Winning Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday!

Winning Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday!

It's not every day you get a real-life dragon supporting your business, so it's a big deal when it happens. We have been proudly chosen as one of Theo Paphitis small business winners in his #SBS Twitter campaign.

As a start-up launching innovative kids' plates, there's a number of mumpreneur network clubs you want to be in. But of them all, it's quite the accolade to be chosen by a successful business owner, and a rather famous one at that.

Supporting Munchy Play plates

Serial entrepreneur and Dragon's Den's Theo Paphitis knows what it's like to be a fledgling start-up. For this reason, he started Small Business Sunday (also known as #SBS on Twitter). This showcases and awards small business, by giving them a platform to be discovered, noticed and promoted.

Every week, Theo invites the small business community to get involved, for their chance for a retweet and membership to his covered SBS club. You can be anyone from a mumpreneur London, Scottish start-up, to a newbie from Nottingham - all you need is passion, persistence and a small business (we didn't win the first, second, or third time). There's a lesson in that alone.

What does it mean to be a Small Business Sunday Winner?

Quite a lot actually.

For starters, there's the 4592503258023 notifications you're going to get! Yes, the downside is that for at least a week, you're going to have no battery on your phone! It's a small price to pay for the huge platform you're exposed to. I'm guessing that in the day since winning, we had literally hundreds of well-wishers congratulating us on Twitter, and many kids plate enquiries on top.

As a nice side-effect, we also had a boost to followers, interest and engagement, as well as website traffic.

Brand awareness is something every small business struggles with, so getting an endorsement from Theo is a great gift to receive. He retweeted our business on his profile, exposing us to the half million followers he has.

Then of course there's the community. A networking hub of likeminded others that want to spur you on, share information with you and grow together. It's a great club to be part of, and one we are proud to join.

There's also the opportunity to use the SBS logo on your platforms. Credibility is something any business needs, whether you sell kids' plates or lawn mower feed, so it's a great leg up. Finally, you also get featured on Theo Paphitis Retail Group website: theopaphitissbs.com.

Thank you Theo!

We are still coming down from the high of winning SBS, and by the look of it, we're in great company too. Thank you Theo for all you do for small businesses, and to you our loyal customers for supporting us. It means more than we can ever put into electronic words.
