The Best Family Friendly Restaurants in Oxford
When it comes to dining out with your child, you’re spoilt for choice in Oxford.
This buzzing city has plenty of fine, affordable and welcoming eateries, catering for all - from students to families and tourists to weaning babies, all are welcome! And with stunning architecture and breath-taking backdrops, it’s a great place for a post-meal walk too. Whether you're looking for the best restaurants in Oxford, or Oxford restaurants with outdoor seating, here's five great choices for family dining out.
La Cucina 9-40 St Clements, Oxford
If you’re looking for a casual spot of food, with everyone’s favourites on the menu, La Cucina is for you. This Italian eatery is distinguished with its smell of fresh oven baked pizza filling the room, along with tummies. There’s also favourite pasta dishes to choose from, ideal for fussy eater toddlers.
Cherwell Boathouse Bardwell Road, Oxford
Tapping in to your child’s love of boats and water, this is the perfect setting, where you can hire punts to take you down the river after a deliciously indulgent lunch. Their menus are seasonal and are more fine dining than casual, but with plenty of choice for children they’re sure to find something they’ll enjoy - bring your Munchy Play plate and enjoy your meal while the kids enjoy theirs!

Bill’s
Located in Northgate Hall on St Michael’s Street, Bill’s might be a chain restaurant, but it’s menu is excellent, catering particularly well to children. Perfect portions are served up on kid’s plates, like beans on toast (for just £1.95!) as well as more adventurous Crispy Corn Tortilla Chips, this is a tourist favourite while still being very kind on your purse, and much loved by fussy eaters too!
Portabello Bar & Grill 7 S Parade, Summertown
Great food, great service and great for kids, Portabello Restaurant in Summertown offers sumptuous dishes. It includes a set price children’s menu (£7.50) offering three-courses, with all the classics from sausages and chips to macaroni cheese. Somehow, we think they will be most excited about the chocolate fudge brownie.
Gees Restaurant and Bar
Set in a stunning Victorian conservatory, this is a well-known and much-loved landmark that serves great tasty dishes. While parents can knock back their signature Bloody Mary, younger ones can pick at some of the great bar dishes, including Spanish food favourites – their mixed tapas sharing baby plate.
