Tis' the season to wrap-up warm, grab yourself a bag of popcorn* and turn on the box. If there's one thing we can rely on this Christmas, it's a feast of Christmas movies for kids on Netflix.
Here's seven family movies that toddlers and young children will enjoy this year, all you need is a Netflix subscription and a childlike sense of humour!
Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas (U)
One of the new Christmas movies on Netflix that the young ones will love is Shaun the Sheep. This festive tale see’s the adorable (but slightly dim) sheep go on a hunt for a bigger stocking. What ensues next is a veritable festive adventure that takes him on a wild chase. Compelling viewing for all the fam!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (PG)
Stock up on chocolates, *popcorn (for kids over 4) and your favourite Hot Wheels plate, as it's time for Willy Wonka! A must see for children, as well as fans of the original film. Tim Burton’s take on this classic is both charming and creepy at the same time. One of the new family movies to add to your list before it’s gone like Augustus Gloop.

Annie – (U)
Annie, what does Annie have to do with Netflix Christmas movies I hear you ask! Well, speak to anyone who grew up in the 80s, and they’ll tell you that Annie was a festive childhood staple, alongside Gremlins and Ghostbusters and all those other not-so-festive films! If you haven’t seen it, Annie is an orphan with big dreams, who is adopted by billionaire Daddy Warbucks, before the evil Miss Hannigan hatches up a plan to cash in on her new life.
Paddington 2 (PG)
If Christmas movies on Disney Plus are not your thing, then head over to Netflix and join the fun. Paddington 2 is arguably one of the best family movies that everyone will love. The follow up see’s Paddington attempting to buy an antique book for dear Aunt Lucy’s birthday. However, when a cunning thief (Hugh Grant) wedges in, things go pear shaped. It’s a fun watch with Grant quite possibly at his finest!

Nativity (U)
Martin Freeman makes this kids Netflix Christmas movie tolerable, with his dry wit and humour. Young viewers will enjoy the madcap story as a struggling teacher is tasked with the job of hosting the school Nativity. If you ask the kids, they’ll tell you it’s one of the bext Netflix Christmas movies 2022… don’t break their hearts, but it was released in 2009!
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (PG)
One of the best family Christmas movies on Netflix 2022, is this magical and heartwarming flick starring Forest Whitaker, Keegan-Michael Key and Hugh Bonneville. Before you can say ‘national treasures’ you’ll be taken in by the beautiful cinematography and magical feel. The story follows a toymaker, who, years after leaving the industry finds a new lease of life when his granddaughter comes along. Delightful.

Elf pets: Santa’s Reindeer Rescue (U)
Not strictly a Netflix Christmas movie, Elf Pets, however is a good one for younger viewers. With episodes at less than half-an-hour it’s just long enough to keep their attention spans, while you boil some Christmas sprouts! The cute animation sees Santa getting ready to do his rounds, with the mischievous elves in two. This cute Netflix Christmas series is great for toddlers.
Big TV fan? Check out the new Thomas & Friends character - Bruno.
*Remember that young children can easily choke on popcorn. For this reason, it's advisable not to serve popcorn to children until they are at least four years old.
