Eight Netflix Movies for Kids in Lockdown 2021
With so many rainy days it can be challenging to find activities to do with the little ones - especially during lockdown with a toddler.
Thankfully, if you have a subscription to Netflix, there’s plenty of entertainment at your fingertips, from the mischievous minions to Charlie Brown and friends.
If you haven’t already raided it, there’s plenty of family movies on Netflix to choose from. Here’s ten of the best kids' movies for lockdown inspiration.
The Peanuts Movie (U)
A new kids movie for a new generation, Charlie Brown and Snoopy are reunited in the film version of the TV programme, with all the usual up’s and down’s. For those of you who grew up in the 80s, it will be a proper trip down memory lane too!
Happy Feet 2 (U)
Cuteness alert! It’s time to watch one of the sweetest movies for kids that grown-ups will love too. The tap-dancing penguin is back with all the moves, with a stellar cast to boot. This includes the ever-fantastic Robin Williams, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon (say it - Matttt Dammooon) and even a cameo from Pink!
The BFG (PG)
The remake of this film features Mark Rylance (you might know him from Bing!) in this adaptation from the classic Road Dahl book. A little orphan meets a giant and so the story unfolds. As with Road Dahl style, it can be a little creepy in places, so this is suitable for slightly older children.
Despicable Me 2 (U)
BELLO! It’s time to welcome the chaos, as the ever-cute Minions return to screens. The brilliantly funny family movie will make you laugh out loud, with lots of references you’re sure to get (but not the kids!) In this sequel, the Minions are back, as Arch-villain Gru and his girls take on more shady exploits!
The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie (U)
With special appearances from David Hasselhoff and Scarlet Johnasson, what’s not to love about this film. The right side of being funny, without crossing the line, follow SpongeBob on an escapade when he’s accused of stealing King Neptune’s crown. Packed full of characters you’ll fall in love with rom Gary to Patrick! It’s probably one of the top funny family movies on Netflix.
Gnomeo and Juliet (U)
The classic Shakespeare love story brought to life with two gnomes! Without some of the tryst involved in the written play, but with just as much oomph!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (PG)
Stock up on chocolates, popcorn and your favourite Tea Party plate, as it's time for Willy Wonka! A must see for children, as well as fans of the original film. Tim Burton’s take on this classic is both charming and creepy at the same time. One of the new family movies to add to your list before it’s gone like Augustus Gloop!
Octonauts & The Great Barrier Reef
From the small screen to the big, the Octonauts get an upgrade with this movie special. At just 50-minutes long, it’s perfectly times for toddler attention spans, peppered with joyful music and an easy-to-follow them throughout.
