Prepare to be transported to a world of dreams and imagination. The summer of Barbie™ film, comes out on 21^st July in the UK, with everyone’s favourite Barbie doll taking center. Featuring Margot Robbie as Barbie, and Ryan Gosling as Ken, it’s the summer movie of 2023 that everyone is talking about.

What is the new Barbie movie all about?

Directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, No Strings Attached) the film’s details are under wraps, with only this to tease us: “After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less-than-perfect doll, Barbie and Ken set off to the real world to find true happiness.”

While specific plot details for the new Barbie movie are currently being kept under wraps, we can anticipate an enchanting narrative that will encourage viewers to embrace their individuality and pursue their passions with unwavering determination. The Barbie movie is rated 12 in the UK, which means that it’s probably more suitable for teenagers and adults. However, if you’re a parent keen to take your children to the cinema this summer, take note that it contains suggestive references and brief language.

The full cast of Barbie 2023

Along with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, there’s a host of A-list actors featuring in the film, this includes; Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera,  Oscar-winner Emerald Fennell y, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, Jamie Demetriou, Connor Swindells, Sharon Rooney, Nicola Coughlan and Ritu Arya. Ryan Gosling is as thrilled to be Ken as all of us are! In a recent interview with Variety Magazine, he said: “This has been coming my whole life… I felt like I was seeing myself. I felt seen. I think a lot of Kens will feel seen when they see this. Gotta do it for the Kens. Nobody plays with the Kens.”

Which artists feature on the Barbie Soundtrack?

Much like the film itself, the Barbie movie soundtrack is set to be huge, and even features Gosling singing ‘I’m Just Ken’.

Curated by DJ Mark Ronson, there’s a disco tone to the uplifting soundtrack, which features artists including Dua Lipa on the epic ‘Dance the Night Away’ tune and the recently dropped ‘What was I made for’ by Billie Eilish.
